King Salman Park
Utility-infrastructure QA/QC on King Salman Park, a $25 billion urban development spanning more than 17 km² in central Riyadh. Haris worked on the underground utility infrastructure during active construction, covering excavation, backfilling, water networks, firefighting systems, inspections, testing and handover.
King Salman Park is one of Riyadh's major Vision 2030 developments, spanning more than 17.2 km². It is planned as a mixed-use urban destination rather than a conventional park, combining extensive green space with cultural, sporting, commercial, residential and entertainment facilities. KSPF's current masterplan describes the development as a $25 billion project with more than 150 attractions and over 1.1 million trees planned across the park.
Haris worked on the project as a QA/QC Engineer with First Fix KSA from January 2023 to June 2024, during the construction of its utility infrastructure.
The visible park is only one part of the construction. Beneath it sits a large network of buried infrastructure supporting the wider development — water, drainage, firefighting and district-cooling systems among the services required across the site.
For QA/QC, the critical point is that much of this work becomes inaccessible once trenches are backfilled and surfaces are completed. Inspection, material verification, testing and documentation therefore had to happen before the work disappeared below ground.
- Managed QA/QC activities for excavation, backfilling and installation of sanitary, stormwater, firefighting, chilled-water and potable-water systems.
- Conducted site inspections and material testing across utility works to verify compliance with approved requirements.
- Reviewed completed works and maintained as-built documentation for installed utility systems.
- Coordinated with architects, engineers and project managers to integrate utility works with the wider project.
- Monitored construction procedures and documented deviations requiring correction or resolution.
- Supported final inspections, handover documentation and project close-out activities.
- Coordinated with construction, planning and safety teams to maintain quality requirements during execution.
King Salman Park is being developed as a complete urban district, which means the infrastructure beneath the landscape is substantial. The project includes dedicated water, drainage, firefighting, irrigation, power, ICT and district-cooling systems supporting its future buildings and public spaces.
